The Brian S. McCarthy Memorial Foundation was established in memory of the late Nashua Alderman-at-Large with the mission to honor the memory, service, and community leadership of Brian, reflect his passion for the sciences and technology, and continue his commitment to education.
What We Do
The Brian S. McCarthy Memorial Foundation promotes, advocates, and funds STEM Education and Lifelong Learning Opportunities to the Nashua, NH community. STEM Education includes the studies of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Since our founding in 2019, we have provided scholarships to 26 high school seniors pursuing higher education in a STEM field, funded 40 projects through our STEMagination Program, and brought STEM education to over 1,800 students at 22 local schools through our partnership with the Nashua Adult Learning Center’s Xploration hands-on classroom science workshops. In 2025, we hosted our first Family STEM Day where over 1,000 people joined us in exploring the exciting world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics with more than 40 hands-on activities and interactive presentations, conducted by 23 demonstrators, including Mt. Washington Observatory, MIT Beaver Works, the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, and FIRST New Hampshire.
