On Wednesday, October 7th, United Way of Greater Nashua volunteers will be working in collaboration with Grow Nashua to create a Community Garden on Tolles Street in Nashua. Community Gardens can be found in several locations around Nashua and are intended to make growing fresh food easier for neighborhood people living in apartments. We'd love for you to join us to do a little digging, planting, and building! We'll be working in several small 12 person shifts throughout the day so we can maintain plenty of social distancing. 

Activities

  • Cutting and assembling wooden raised beds
  • Filling raised beds with soil
  • Digging holes for apple trees
  • Digging holes for elderberry bushes
  • Building rock wall for elderberry hedge
  • Cutting ropes for wicking irrigation system
  • Installing buckets for wicking irrigation
  • Making lids for buckets
  • Installing dog waste stations
  • Building compost station
  • Building a small water spigot cover 
  • Straw, burlap and staple beds for winter
