Bridges Outreach Ambassadors may table at community events, or
distribute Bridges materials in the community. They also assist in support
groups or educational outreach, and volunteer in other ways in the
community. Bridges Outreach Advocates can be Support Line Volunteers as
well, if they choose to.

Pre-service qualifications:

-Effective communication skills and desire to work on topics of domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse and elder abuse.
-Ability to intervene appropriately in crisis situations and to maintain client confidentiality
-Successful completion of Crisis Intervention Advocacy training
-Must be 18 years or older

Supervision: The volunteer/intern will be directly supervised by the Direct Service Program Coordinator.

Responsibilities: The volunteer will work in conjunction with the Direct Service Program Coordinator and other agency staff in order to provide crisis intervention support and advocacy to individuals who have been victimized by domestic and sexual violence. The volunteer is responsible for assessing the client’s needs, offering supportive services including referring to other programs as appropriate, reporting statistical information, maintain client records and attending crisis intervention meetings.
