Family STEM Day

Description

On May 16th the Brian S. McCarthy Memorial Foundation with hold our 2nd Annual Family STEM Day from 10am to 2pm at Nashua High School South. Free and open to families, students, and community members of all ages, our event gathers partners to engage with the community and inspire future generations of scientists, engineers, and innovators. Demonstrators showcase hands-on exhibits, interactive presentations, and other creative displays to engage attendees of all ages in STEM learning.


To help Family STEM Day run smoothly, we need volunteers to assist with set-up, breakdown, check-in, greeting attendees, and supporting demonstrators. We have volunteer shifts available on Friday, May 15th from 5:15pm to 7:30pm and Saturday, May 16th from 8:15am to 3pm.


Volunteer jobs include:

 

·      Set-up and Breakdown Team: The Set-up and Breakdown Team will help setup and breakdown tables and chairs. The Set-up Shift will setup tables and chairs in the configuration laid out in the event map, as well as place tablecloths and table assignments on each table. The Breakdown Shift will remove tablecloths, breakdown and stack tables and chairs following the event.

o   Shifts from 5:15pm to 6pm on May 15th and 1pm to 3pm on May 16th

 

·      Demonstrator Greeters: Demonstrator Greeters will greet demonstrators at the Athletic Rotunda entrance and help them find their assigned room and table. They will also help field setup questions.

o   Shifts from 5:45pm to 7:15pm on May 15th and 8:15am to 9:45am on May 16th

 

·      Pre-Registration Check-in Table: The Pre-Registration Check-in Table will check in attendees who pre-registered online for Family STEM Day, handout programs books, event maps, passports & swag bags. The first shift will set up the table and last shift will break down the table.

o   2-hour shifts from 9am to 3pm on May 16th

 

·      Walk-up Check-in Table: The Walk-Up Check-in Table will register (collect names, email addresses, and party number) attendees who have not pre-registered, handout programs books, event maps, passports & Swag bags. The first shift will set up the table and the last shift will break down the table.

o   2-hour shifts from 9am to 3pm on May 16th

 

·      Greeters: The greeters will welcome attendees in front of the school and in the Athletic Rotunda, direct attendees to the Pre-Registration or Walk-up tables, and hand out any favors to attendees as they depart.

o   2.5-hour shifts from 9:30am to 2:30pm on May 16th

 

·      Floater: Floaters will help monitor the needs of demonstrators, food trucks, and volunteers and support the Event Planner

o   2-hour shifts from 9:00am to 3pm on May 16th
