Many families grew for their families this year in the Spring St. Gardens constructed by the community this spring and we are expanding thanks to the support of many of our community members and the generosity of local organizations (see below for thanks)! These gardens serve as a space where families without the space or means to have their own garden can grow their own vegetables to consume at home with their family as well as build friendships in a community setting.
This first day(s) of the project will be constructing the wooden beds that will be 4 ft X 12 ft X 2 ft and constructed out of spruce boards and posts for stability. A few sets of hands and some drill skills will be helpful. The second part of construction will be digging dirt and loading the beds with soil. The third phase will be installing a wicking rope system for water efficiency and planting some cover crop to protect the soil over the winter!
A special thanks to the organizations that are making this possible – Nashua Soup Kitchen, The Church of the Good Shepherd, Citizens Bank, Southern NH Hospital, United Way of Greater Nashua, The Law Offices of Katherine J. Morneau, The Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce, Feed NH, The Freedman Family, St. Patrick’s Church, WRP Properties, The Burns Family, Congregational Church of Hollis, Chick Beaulieu, and Immaculate Conception Parish.
All ages are welcome for this fun way to serve our community!
