Description

Volunteers can help the Greater Nashua Food Council and Harvard Pilgrim Health Foundation through Gleaning, Growing, and Distributing fresh produce for underserved community members.

Gleaning: You will work with NHGleans.org to coordinate picking up produce from local farms and distributing to local food pantries, child care centers, churches, non-profit organizations, community food giving boxes, and to any other places you might see a need for the produce. Contact Jessica Gorhan jessica@gorhanconsulting.com or sign up directly at NHGleans.org

Growing: You will work with Grow Nashua to help build, manage, and harvest at community gardens. The gardens are built and designed as learning gardens for low-income families and individuals, refugees, and New Americans. The food helps to feed their families and provide social connectedness within the community. Contact jessica@gorhanconsulting.com or reach out to Justin Munroe from Grow Nashua directly at justin@grownashua.org

Distribution: You will work with Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter (NSKS) Mobile Food Pantry to distribute gleaned vegetables in low-income neighborhoods. You will ride along with NSKS truck driver to select locations in Nashua and set up the mobile food pantry (a table and a couple chairs). Community members will come and pick up boxes/bags of food and take them home. Contact jessica@gorhanconsulting.com or reach out to Meghan Bolton directly at meghan@nsks.org

Thank you for your help!
